508 Resource Limit Is Reached: Account Limits Hit

508 Resource Limit Is Reached means your hosting account used up its allotted resources: CPU, memory, or the number of concurrent processes. The server stops serving the site for a while until the load drops. This error is common on shared hosting with CloudLinux, where every account has hard limits.

What causes it

The cause is going over your plan's limits: heavy plugins and queries, a flood of bots, background cron jobs, or simply grown traffic that no longer fits the current package.

How to fix it

  1. Open Resource Usage in cPanel and see which limit you hit: CPU, memory, or process count.
  2. Disable or replace the heavy plugins that create the most load.
  3. Turn on caching so the same content is not rebuilt on every visit.
  4. Block aggressive bots and lower the frequency of cron jobs.
  5. Optimize your database and the slow queries that hold processes open.
  6. If the site has outgrown the plan, move to a stronger one, since the limits may simply be too small.
